Me

My name is Belinda Matthews, I live on the Wiltshire edge of the New Forest and have a studio in Downton, near Salisbury.

I trained and worked for many years as a Graphic Designer for the electronics industry, but since having children, I have gone back to painting and over the last 3 years have produced a considerable amount of work for various clients and for exhibitions. 

When I am not painting to my clients specifications I use the surrounding countryside and the people and  animals who maintain it.  My specialist subject is gundogs and terriers.  My style is detailed realism but I do like to show some of the character of my subjects with a little hint of quarkyness to give my paintings a more contemporary feel to most sporting art.

I also design and make jewellery - mainly bridal and formal wear - using crystals, pearls and glass and have recenty mixed painting with jewellery making in the form of venetain style masks.
